Hi there, I'm Alisa!
I am a devoted mother of two boys, a passionate dog lover, and an avid mountain enthusiast. I fell in love with yoga after attending my first class when I was nineteen, but it was a significant back injury years later that led me to fully embrace it's transformative power.
I am an E-RYT 500 beginning my teaching journey in 2014 at Source Yoga in Winnipeg with certifications in Vinyasa, and Yin, and soon found my passion with Pre & Postnatal Yoga, continuing my education with the Empowerment Project, and obtaining my Pre & Postnatal Fitness Specialist Designation.
With a commitment to lifelong learning I have continued my studies to include various teacher trainings including my Pre and Postnatal Yoga Accreditation with the Manitoba Fitness Council, Vinyasa Immersion in Skilful Sequencing at Shala Yoga in Squamish BC, Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction with the Mindfulness Centre of Canada, Advanced Teacher Training at Yoga Centre Winnipeg, Infant Massage Instructor Certification, 2-day Spinning Babies Workshop, and other various pre/postnatal fitness, pelvic health, somatic, and childbirth education courses. I am passionate about empowering women to prepare their body, mind, and breath for labour and delivery, and helping new moms connect with their core, community, and babies.
I am also a certified Kids Yoga Teacher, having completed my training with both Kidding Around Yoga and Yoga Ed. I love working with children of all ages, from toddlers to teens, helping them discover the joy of movement and the benefits of mindfulness.
Having studied music for most of my life, I enjoy bringing my two passions together in my classes with healing sounds from singing bowls, hand pans, and other world percussion instruments to enhance practice and promote deeper relaxation. Additionally, I am a Usui Reiki Level 3 - Master Practitioner.
My parents have always been active volunteers in our community and giving back has always been apart of our family's core values. I hope to continue this tradition with my own kids and help foster the spirit of philanthropy for generations to come. I am committed to making a difference for Manitobans living with a cancer diagnosis through my fundraising initiative, Healing Minds, Healing Bodies - Yoga for the Cure. This is my Seva.
Before teaching yoga, I spent the majority of my career in the Hospitality Industry. After completing my secondary education in Business Management and Hospitality Management, I moved to Banff, where I spent my twenties enjoying mountain life. When not on my mat, I can be found paddle boarding, hiking, making music, and baking. I live with my husband, two sons, and three dogs.
